Lyrics:

Verse 1
In the quiet of the morning
When no one knows and no one needs to know
You speak to me, You give me strength
There’s nothing like the secret place

Chorus
Underground is where life begins
My heart will rejoice in the hiddenness
Beyond the burial there’s a resurrection
Your will be done in me

Verse 2
In the stillness all around
You are working all the details out
What’s in me will grow someday
I trust Your timing and Your ways

Tag
Oh let my roots go deep

Bridge 1
I will rise, I will rise
He holds the time that I will rise
I will rise, I will rise
He holds the time that I will rise
I will rise, I will rise
God through my life be lifted high
I will rise, I will rise
God through my life be lifted high

Bridge 2
Let Jesus rise, Jesus rise
God through my life be glorified

  4. self-actualization wrapped in narcissistic spiritual experience. Be careful who you're actually worshipping here. Self or Jesus. Revival doesn't happen on over produced/funded worship ministry videos. It happens in the quiet wilderness of the soul yielded to God – which is ironically what is being written about here. There's just something off…I feel like I'm being asked to worship the experience itself, and not the God who walks with you in the experience, who IS in fact THE experience. At the same time, all of the experience to which the song points are true. The redemptive sense in which one can say "I will rise" is surely a theological truth. There's just something off and maybe its the polish. I'm sorry for being so grumpy and old-fashioned. Enjoy the song people. Enjoy the human emotion on display. It's a bit like worship pornography. Instead of experiencing it yourself in the context of your local church – enjoy it here on the interwebs. Sorry, another thought has occurred to me – maybe Satan loves this second-hand worship marketing machine because it keeps you from actually investing in real life spiritual disciplines that lead to worship of the one true God in Spirit and in Truth. So shortcut wrestling with God and self and just enjoy a moment of hyped anthem that makes us feel as if we love God, even though it's just ourselves and our experiences that we love. Think that one day Jesus will say to those who worked hard in the service of his name "Depart from me, I never knew you". Think and decide for yourself: Does this leave you wanting Jesus in the quiet place or wanting to be a part of what seems to be happening at Bethel? Does this make you want to carry whatever cross God has laid on you regardless of the fame and fortune implied or does it leave you wanting to be part of an amazing worship experience full of weeping and emotionalism and cameras and self-importance?
