Billy Burke | – Word of the Week: Isaiah 53:5

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)

God doesn’t heal us because we’re good. He heals us because He’s good.

He doesn’t heal us because we’ve always lived right, always had a right diet, always had right habits and have always hung around the right people. In this verse God is saying He wants to pull rank in all of our relations and our behavior, and He wants us to focus on what He did at Calvary. No matter how you’ve lived, who you were with, or what you’ve done- you are healed because of HIS stripes.

Many people memorize this verse and say it over and over, but we still think we have to do everything right. Even though we know the verse, we think we always have to be good. In the story with the lepers, many of them were sick because of sin, but Jesus healed them anyhow. Eating right is a great asset, but you aren’t healed because of how you eat.

Our God is all about getting you healthy and strong in spite of you! In spite of your lack of knowledge, lack of perfect behavior, and lack of being in the right place at the right time, you can be healed. Begin to focus and call on The Lord. Tell Him you believe what He did on the cross, “Jesus, I am healed by Your stripes. I am healed by what action You took.”

From His back, to your body… If you make this your focus, you will begin to see the healing stream flow right into your body, and heal you and make you whole!
