Maybe you have wondered: ‘Is prayer really THAT powerful?’ In part three of the impactful ‘Why This Matters’ series, Pastor Erwin McManus helps us grasp the power of connecting with God through prayer.
Growing up in El Salvador with a religious background, Pastor Erwin was mostly taught that prayer was powerful through the repetition of the rosary. In this conversation, he helps us shift our perspective as he shares that the true power in prayer is found in listening to God.
From the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 18, we learn that prayer connects us to what God wants to do in and through us. Elijah prayed for rain to stop and it did at his command. Similarly, Pastor Erwin shares about multiple experiences in his own life where he brought a request before God in prayer and found his prayer answered in miraculous ways.
Tune into this incredible message to learn why prayer matters, and how the power of prayer can change your life!

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.
My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.” – James 5:16-20
