Christian Journal | – 1 John 1:8 Explained | Keep Sinning To Be Saved?

1 John 1:8 is often used to “prove” that we cannot be free from sin in this life. The verse says, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” It appears, at first glance, to be an easy verse to understand, doesn’t it? But is this passage saying that Jesus does not deliver from all sin (including its penalty, pollution and power) in this world? I hope to demonstrate that this is not what John was saying. In order to understand 1:8, we need to look at the context in which John said these words. As the saying goes, “a text used out of context is often a pretext.”

  1. Jesus paid our entire past future and present sins. It Jesus righteousness that we put on as the new man in that we don't sin. But our flesh n blood that cannot enter is full of sins. I think you are misunderstanding these scriptures. What about sins of Omissions our unclean thoughts. Our flesh is sin Jesus saves us its all Him and nothing of ourselves. It's Grace alone Faith alone Christ alone. God is satisfied with what His Son Jesus did for us. It's not a liscence to sin but a liscence to rest in Jesus Finished Work at the Cross. He who says he is without sin is a liar and the truth is not in him.

  2. Yeshua is Jesus. His mother called him Yeshua therefore I will choose to call him Yeshua. I don’t condemn anyone who calls him Jesus. So, you should not be so strict on the name. I see what you are teaching and yes I agree but you forget about grace. Grace is for the unknown sin and stumbling. We will fight the good fight to stop sinning but don’t condemn the ones who do fall because one day you might be tested by the devil and not come out the winner of your personal test.
