  1. I’ve recently gained a new perspective of God that has drastically altered my relating to him. I don’t think it is about siding with either one of the choices on the spectrum. I think it’s about balance. If we look at all that God has created there’s a balance at the foundation of everything from our bodies, nature, To animals… we are born predetermined bc God knew us before we were born and knitted us in our mothers’ wombs. He created this earth for us and gave us dominion over it. He planned and destined for us to enjoy this gift with parameters and yet he gave us choices to pick which of the many paths our lives could take. As I’ve been reflecting on my life path I’ve come to realize that I am where I am and who I am because of the choices I’ve made at every forks I’ve come to on my journey. I now see life as a series of forks on a road where we are constantly presented with choices. I could have been and done so many things and yet I tend to choose the long way around often times. I’ve seen how God has never failed to make lemonades out of all the lemons I throw at him Even though it would be easier to shake me to make the right decisions, but it’s exactly bc of that free will and that predetermination to be here that I am grateful that God always soften the consequences despite knowing all the endings for each path. The point is, I believe, OUR choices reveal the lives we live, with every choice there’s a consequence and with each choice we also have an impact on others because of our interconnectedness and God is constantly working to protect and salvage the mess we make of our lives and that of others. We really keep him busy it’s more than a full time job I think. The ultimate goal I think is to make wiser choices when we get to that fork in the road as we mature as Christians because we are both predetermined and blessed with free will. I’m finding so much freedom, peace and faithfulness in God as a result of this new worldview.

  2. 1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.

2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25 Behold, I have told you before. Matthew 24:1-25

  3. 2 Timothy 3:1-9

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

    4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their's also was.

  4. You can’t talk about all of this ignoring the spiritual aspect of life. God breathed into man the breath of life and man became a living soul. In the spiritual realm the rule is, whom you obey becomes your master. The exchange between the serpent and Adam and Eve was such that man chose to obey Satan instead of God this RELINQUISHING his God-given authority to Satan who then by right was able to exercise his power on earth.

Only good things come from God however sin has consequences. As the Bible says, “the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

  5. Thanks Pastor Wesley, we need these type of discussions, the early church had disagreements and what we know today as present day theology and Doctrine it took over 2000 years of evolution. The problem we have now is that no one wants to think, we base our ideas after our predecessors, but we fail to realize that it took over 2000 years to form today’s theology.

  6. I really like how you're doing this. Is good to make people think because through that thinking, we gain an increased understanding. Today, you posed a question that I had never thought about until now. People shouldn't be afraid to have their way of thinking challenged. It's how we grow. We are callable creatures, and so can always increase our understanding because of it.

  7. Pastor…your final question falls within a category of question I've always had, whenever read a verse(s) implying GOD asking a human being, "any question". That has never really made sense to me. I look forward to your feedback on the question about GOD and Adam. Much Love! Bowtie

  8. I tell ppl all the time that the fall of man opened the door for the repercussions of man's decisions. The bad in the world is not God's doing as we would call it, but as we made the choice to give saran rule over the earth,we have to attribute evil to what happens in a fallen world.

  9. The problem with his theology is that everything starts with him and not God. It doesn't make sense, sit well, etc. with you. Therefore, since you are the locus of your theology, you feel you have the right to reject or accept and apply the teaching of Scripture when it best suits you. There is hardly any biblical theology being done here…shame.

  10. Thank you very much Pastor Wesley. I've had been having that Thomas tendency for a very long time and it seems that whenever I ask, I am never that satisfied with the answer given to me. So this study helps me in my understanding of another point of view or interpretation. Thank you and God bless you more and more.

  11. Please forgive me Saints

I know we are not suppose to use scripture in this Bible study, but I could not help myself.

I am just at the 9:00 minute mark in the video and I am seriously struggling with this all to common question: Why do bad things happen to "good" people? Why do the righteous suffer?

Where in our world are these good and righteous people? I don't know any good or righteous people: Not Mother Theresa, the Pope, Gandhi, Billy Graham, my mother, or my praying grandmother, not Rev. Wesley, and definitely not me.

According to my Bible, God is the ONLY one who is good and righteous.

Mark 10:18 — “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good — except God alone.

Romans 3:10-12 — As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”

Isaiah 64:6 — All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

Here is what the Creator of all humanity said about His creation once it was contaminated with sin.

Genesis 6:5-6 — The LORD saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.  6 The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain.

  12. What does it mean to be made in the insge of God?
for humans tobe obedient in having the conscious recognition of their being in the image of God which means, that they are the creature throught whom God's plans and purposes can be made known and actualized; humans, in this way, can be seen as co-creators with God!

  13. You have come into the kingdom for such a time as this. After 25+ yrs of pastoring in 3 mainline denominations, feeling imprisoned because of gender and rejected for my Process theological position, I jumped ship. As a New Thought spirituality teacher I found both freedom and peace. We may differ a bit in our theological interpretations BUT you are without question a great gift to the Christian church.

  14. Well not sure about the tree being free will. Adam had free will because he was able to choose whether to eat of the tree or not two. I think the tree repreaents the knowledge of sin. Once we ate of the tree the knowledge of sin came into the world. It represents the loss of man's innocence through disobedience.

  15. I don't think everything is for ordained. I do believe it is for known. God does not bring evil in this world. It was the original sin that cased to trials and tribulations in our life. When bad things happen it is not God's fault but this world's we live in now is not our home. So yes death happens but we can't be upset because we don't belong to this world. We have a home on the other side.
