John Piper | – Why Comfortable Christians Go Prayerless // Ask Pastor John
Please share this video to view it
Until we come awake to the great spiritual war that surrounds us, we will never truly know the privilege and power of prayer.
Why are we so content to go prayerless? Or to ask it another way, what is it that motivates our prayer lives? What can sustain us here? What breathes urgency and jump-starts our intercession? This seems like such a relevant topic for every Christian to ponder. And with that topic on the table today we turn to a classic John Piper clip from a sermon he preached in the late 1980s. It was sent to us by Summer, who lives in Niceville, Florida. Thank you very much, Summer. Here’s Pastor John addressing prayer neglect.

"America; the Disneyland of the universe." Nothing but shivers…
Untill we believe that life is war, we will not know what prayer is for.
Amazing

Often, we Christians in the West are too comfortable.
Another reason why reading about the Armour of God in Ephesians is so good.
Ding Dong, the wicked acts 29 has died.
I'm not at all comfortable. Sometimes I don't pray because it often hurts. Worshipping the Lord through prayer and thanking him for all that he does is uplifting. However, praying for good things to happen and telling God about my troubles is exhausting because my burdens are too heavy. What do you do when you're burnt out and have been through so much that even telling our savior feels daunting? Faith and hope seem as though they cost too much these days. I know that God is always with us but sometimes life is too much to live. Has anyone else ever felt like this?

Love how the clip legit sounds like a radio transmition to the troops in the battlefield as a war moral boost. Blessed to the Lord!
People also might not pray because they feel like God is not answering them. This is what I struggle with, as I am at war right now, and I am losing the battle. I need reinforcements!
Can you share me the links for the full message please?
To all Christians
Jesus saying ["but the one who DOES the will of my father who is in heaven"] reveals you have to do something to enter heaven. That something is the will of the father.
The will of the father is STOP SINNING.
Stop sinning or you will be cast into Hell. If you have stopped continue to not sin.
Thank you for this session . Great reminder
spend time with adoration of the blessed sacrament in a catholic church – its far and away the holiest form of prayer to be in the real presence of christ – its absolutely amazing
Like king Solomon
Glad yall are still posting this week
Prayer is like radioing the general and asking for backup, and perhaps to go to church is to visit the command center and receive critical intelligence, soul-saving training and spiritual armor, and morale boost in our brothers and sisters in The Lord?
Until you know what death on the Cross is for, you’ll not know what your life is for.
Or sometimes, we’re just too lazy and occupied with the little things. Even Piper said that “One of the great uses of Twitter and Facebook will be to prove at the Last Day that prayerlessness was not from lack of time.”
Well know we know where Paul Washer got his preaching style…
This is why God willing, I want to travel, out of the west at least for a time. We are too comfortable here while there is nothing but persecution everywhere else.
Im not. I want God to share in all.
Sometimes you get tired of praying and hoping because God chooses not to hear you for years even with fasting and prayers. Pray that Jesus brings a husband my way
Why are we expected to pray but God isn't expected to talk to us audibly?
Prayer is the way we communicate with God.
Niceville Florida, I used to work at Twin Cities Hospital in Niceville.
That phrase is gonna stick in my head for a long time. Hopefully, lifetime.
I struggle everyday battling to just make my living. But I have forgotten what my battles are really against. The great war. The spiritual war.
According to our apostle paul’s ministry, today we are only saved by BELIEVING The Gospel of Jesus Christ,1st Corinthians Chapter 15 verse 1-4.Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried ,and rose again on the third day.Jesus Christ Shed Blood is what saves you when you believe this plan of salvation with your heart.
keep watch and Pray that you will not fall into temptation. Matthew 26. 41
Nothing but truth in this clip. The Disneyland bubble burst in 2020. May we take heed…
Remember that prayer is not giving orders to the Sovereign of the Universe but reporting for duty
Trouble seems to be the motivating factor.
In my own life, I fail to pray for particular things, not because I'm so comfortable, but because I've been led to believe (not even in 'prosperity' fashion) that I should expect God to provide for me, for his people. I should expect his empowering. But I almost never get these (not never, but so rarely) — and I see I'm in good company in history and around the Christian world today. Life is a desperate thing. But it makes me slow to ask for things that God already knows I need. My prayers are confession. My prayers are for others' relationships with God and his ways and will. But asking for things or change to circumstances? There's a reason I don't ask. And in all this, I wish I understood the scripture's terminology: "have not seen God's people begging bread," and "abundant life." Further, much of what I ask is for my life to bear fruit that preaches to my soul that I'm obedient and stewarding my life well. And I haven't identified much of that. All of which reminds me of something I heard put very well 20+ years ago: the Christian life isn't merely difficult. It's impossible. I / we so need Him in all things all the time.
