Louie Giglio | – Winning the Battle of the Mind – Louie Giglio

“I’m going to win the battle of my mind because I have the power of the finished work of Jesus. I’m standing on victory and I’m going to move from that victory.” ⁣
– Louie Giglio

We can all relate to the feeling of having to contend for our thoughts, that’s why this truth was so encouraging: Jesus has given us victory at The Cross, and through the power of the Holy Spirit the ability take every thought captive for his glory in the fight towards winning the battle of the mind.

Remember, when Jesus died and rose on the third day, he rose to glorious and victorious life both now and forever. When He did, he gave this life to anyone who will put their trust in Him.

The battle in our minds is real; it’s not something we can push away or ignore. We need to arm ourselves with Paul’s reminder in 2 Corinthians 10:5, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

This week, Pastor Louie left us with a practical challenge. To exercise authority over our thoughts with these five steps:

1. Examine it. Question it. Where did it come from? Does it match up with God’s Word?

2. Bind that thought before it binds you. Negative, tempting, or fearful thoughts will capture us if we don’t take ahold of them first, rooted in the Word to know what God says about them. Let the Scripture sink in your heart and head so that the enemy can’t short-circuit your calling or steal your purpose.

3. Change the narrative. Don’t merely bind the bad but begin to think about whatever is pure and good and lovely and praiseworthy (Phil 4:8) and write a new story.

4. Act on that truth.

5. Repeat. What is the thought that is binding you today? Examine it, bind it, and speak the truth in its place and begin walking in victory, the νικος of Christ!

At Passion City Church we believe that because God has displayed the ultimate sacrifice in Jesus, our response to that in worship must be extravagant. It is our privilege, and our created purpose, to reflect God’s Glory back to Him through our praise, our sacrifice, and our song.

  1. Thanks you Louie. For the inspiration and the strength to keep moving forward in my life I was that one who needed to hear that and to be reminded that I am not what I think I am but that I am the son of the GREAT I AM!

  2. This was so timely for me as raising teens keeps creating a narrative of negativity and defeat. I will begin each with Jesus and taking all my thoughts captive in obedience to Him and use the narrative of the Word of God.

  3. I needed this message so badly tonight!! There has been a battle in my mind all my life but especially the last two weeks where I was beginning to believe I wasn't going to make it to Heaven. I felt spiritually faint and felt my life was over. I have been a christian since 11 and I am almost 70. I needed every word you spoke. It was meant for me and Praise The Lord for hearing my cry and sending this message to me today. Victory is in Jesus!! Thank you!!!!!

  4. Read Scripture for yourself. Memorize Scripture for yourself. All these pastors know and can teach truth because of the time spent in God’s Word!! We are all to do the same and be Bereans (Acts 17:11) and know the truth so we can make sure these pastors are preaching truth and we can be used by the Lord and know truth which will set us free. We are accountable before God for our relationship with Him through Jesus Christ!! We should spend as much time with Him as we would a new love interest if not more! When we do we end up with less of the world having it’s pull on us and more of the Lord!! WGIIWCO (what goes in is what comes out). “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman who needs not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).

  5. I have to sheepishly admit many years ago I asked my high school aged kids “who is this Louie guy, and what is this 7:22 thing?” After they explained it excitedly I said it would be good for me to go. “Oh no Dad it’s not for old folks”. Thank hyou Louie those many years ago as now I have children who love the Lord, married to spouses who love the Lord. My oldest granddaughter was baptized two weeks ago at her request.
If it all ends today, I have lived a blessed life.
Thank you for the role you played.

  6. Louie mentioned notes that would be sent via email. I couldn’t seem to find them online but I wrote down the important scriptures he mentions @40:50. Scripture to speak to yourself each day of the week I wrote them on index cards and will carry them in my pocket throughout the week and at work.
Monday – My God knows my name. Isaiah 43:1
Tuesday – My God goes before me. Isaiah 42:12
Wednesday – I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Thursday – I consider that my present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. Romans 8:18
Friday – no weapon formed against shall prosper. Isaiah 54:17
Saturday – I am a child of God. Romans 8:16
Sunday – The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me. Ephesians 1:18-20

    Winning the battle:
    Act on the truth
    Identify the thought
    Change the narrative
Act on the true thing that I am thinking about.

  7. We give scripture back to enemy as Jesus did. But I got a question, wondering where in the Bible are we told to say, "I rebuke you satan in the name of Jesus." Where in Bible are we told to say to satan, "I bind you satan in the name of Jesus." I can't find that anywhere?
