Robert Barron | – Bishop Barron on His Fifth Episcopal Anniversary

Friends, I took a few minutes today to reflect on my fifth anniversary as a bishop. I’m just so grateful to God for all the opportunities in the past few years, especially the tremendous honor of serving the good people of my Santa Barbara pastoral region in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. I’m also grateful for events such as the World Meeting of Families, the Eucharistic Conference in the Philippines, the Jubilee for priests, the Youth Synod in Rome, and much more. At Word on Fire, we launched the Word on Fire Institute and “The Word on Fire Show,” the “Mass” and “Sacraments” study programs, and finished the “Pivotal Players” filming. I’m thankful for everyone who’s watched and shared our material, and for everyone who continues to support us in our ministry. May God bless you all!

  1. God bless you on your Fifth Episcopal Anniversary appropriately on the Birthday of our Blessed Mother Mary. More than 400,000 of us ask and are given your gospel reflections daily in our inbox. Over 61 million YouTube and 3.2 million Facebook followers more love your homilies, your inspirational presentations, and your tireless daily effort to preach Jesus Christ. Countless more benefit from your Word On Fire ministries, shows and classes. Protestants, nonaffiliated, atheists, even kids alike follow you. I love watching you interact with them with utmost respect, generosity of your time, simplicity, clarity and grace. Right now, in my opinion, you are the only one consistently and visibly in the forefront of evangelization and protecting the Catholic Church as foreseen by your late mentor, the legendary Cardinal George and now under Archbishop Gomez. We ask God to guide you always as you share your unique, God-given gift with all of God’s creation.

  2. Congratulations, and praise to the Lord Jesus Christ, for your outreach ministries, I have never seen a catholic priest who delivered the word as you do. And never have had a catholic priest move me to tears and reach my heart and mind like you have.
I pray that god graces and blesses you

  3. Happy anniversary bishop Barron. What a gift you are to the church. I thank the the Lord for your priesthood. May God continue to teach and evangelize through you. May he also continue to bless and protect you. Marie

  4. California: I went there in ‘69 because I was interested to discover more about psychedelic drugs.
Reading Leary and Huxley and others I sensed a link with The doctrine at the root of Christianity and I was interested to read John Allegro’s book, “The Sacred Mushroom And the Cross” in which he says that prophetic inspiration has always involved mind altering herbs. He also says that “Peter” doesn’t mean stone or rock as is traditionally believed, it is a Sumerian word for psychedelic mushroom
I have to admit awareness of super natural phenomena is more acute for me now, and I wonder if church members could have a greater commitment to truth of Christ if they allowed themselves similar experiences to mine

  5. I'm curious Bishop Barron. During your visits to the prisons allowing you to "Flex your pastoral muscles" (I enjoyed that), did you ever come across someone so evil that you knew there was no hope of saving them?

  6. Kindly consider praying an additional holy Rosary to your current daily one, for the loving intentions of our Blessed Mother – she will be ever so grateful.  We need her now more than ever.  God bless you.  God bless you, Bishop Barron.
