Robert Barron | – Mighty Ones, Look Upon Your Works and Despair — Bishop Barron’s Sunday Sermon

Friends, are you spending your time building a pedestal for yourself, or are you breathing life into others? Think about the fact that whatever legitimate authority you have, it ultimately comes from God. And then think about how you’re cooperating with and best using that grace.

  1. I don't know, if you know, how much you are prophesying the Lord's move among men on the earth and His move among the affairs of men as it relates to current events. I relish in your insight and presentation, for it them I enjoying seeing these things of prophesy happen before my very eyes almost daily. I could go on and on, but time and current space do not permit. All I say further is how much I appreciate your wisdom in sharing us the light we need to light our path daily. May the Lord continue to bless you and your ministry.

  2. From your humbleness to guide me to Jesus's Way, oh how blessed are we to have you lighting us the Way to Life everlasting under God's Grace.
"For whoever exalts himself shall be humbled; and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted."
    Thank you, Bishop Barron!

  3. Thank you Bishop Barron I was struggling with one issue earlier and you gave me a wisdom on what to do.
    To God Be The Glory!
Pls keep us in your prayer from Northern California and You are in our prayer all priests and praying for vocations to holy priests

  4. There is an aspect to faith which has to be experienced. God reveals himself to each person individually. We have only the framework of our existence within which to understand God's existence and intentions for us.

Imagine a sun, its radient light is so bright it penetrates all material substances. This light is equally intense in all directions so that its light radiates out like lazer beams. Its light is constantly and directly moving from the center in all possible angles. Each beam of light might represent the love God has for each of us, each one equally intense, constant and straight.

Now, try to see the source of this light as omnipresent; yet, not merely permeating, becoming all that exists. It unites all to all, it draws all to itself, and; unlike a black hole, it permits all to be independent of itself within the boundaries of time and space. It gives all it sustains identity.

There is an eternally present love available for all that is within reach of our minds and hearts. However, it is our lives that are limited by time, in space, and confined by the need for air, water, food and light to continue; yet, not only that. Life without love spends itself out. Only life within the embrace of God's love continues to be renewed and rewritten by the love of God in the present of each moment because every moment is in His presence.

  5. (Isaiah 30: Al1 0f it)

Ozymandias’s beloved, monumental statue was ultimately left broken and forgotten in a barren land. I wonder if the people (while not comprehending) said Noah was just building a monument for himself. We all know how that turned out. To discern the difference is to possess wisdom. History will, as it always does, repeat itself.

  6. The authority comes from God but to do His will and accomplish the mission given. Ask God what your mission is according to your state. Isaiah speaking God’s message, not just “criticizing”.

  7. I’m listening to this. Isaiah did not always find favor with his listeners. I think it was King Manasseh that ordered him cut in two. If you would like something fascinating, you might like hearing Cami Oetman. She shares wonderful insights in Unlocking Bible Prophecies.

  8. We love you Bishop Barron . That is the type of teaching we love to hear as Catholics. But, there are individuals breathing life out of us by their constant accusations of our spiritual leaders. Help us get rid of them.

  9. I'll never forget the look on your face, way back in Chicago, when I had asked you (re: your book Catholicism), 'how does it feel to create something that brings so many to Christ and His Church?'. You physically drooped into the table and reminded me of how this was from God and you gave Him all the glory. Thank you for breathing life into my flawed self and showing me such an example of humility. No matter how many arrows are flying your way, I know for certainty that you have never once done any of this to build your own empire. God bless you always and you are in my daily prayers, Bishop!

  10. Reminds us, every one of us, how The Christ's authority has been handed over to StPeter, to the next pope, thru generations, down to the bishops and the priests, and that is a Given, not to be refuted.

  11. So thought provoking and inspiring. If I understand you correctly Bishop Barron it is not about money it's to harness the power of God s love to do his will to help and give guidance to others. Keep setting our hearts on fire with God's love. We need to be reminded not to serve ourselves but others. Thank you and God bless you and your ministry.
