  1. As for the Cath'/ Prod' difference in using the Bible: it's because we Catholics understand that God reveals Himself perfectly thru the person of Jesus Christ, not an infallible text. The idea that God reveals Himself thru a flawless book is Islamic not Christian. The Apostles handed on a living, breathing "tradition" not a book cf. 1 Corinthians 11:2 and 2 Thessalonians 2:15 & 3:6.
Prophets leave their followers books because that is all they can give. Jesus gives us Himself because He is God. That is why Our Lords "Way" is sacramental NOT scriptural, fore it is thru the sacraments we achieve Theosis and Union with Him. Jesus' way is meant to be lived, not studied; "The letter kills, The Spirit gives life".
Sola Scriptura is an Islamic idea imported into Christianity via Luther and Calvin that has frustrated Our Lords intention and ultimately reduces Him to the level of a mere prophet. And what does the Bible itself say is the " the pillar and bulwark of the truth"? -"The Church of the living God"! (1 Timothy 3:15).

  2. Love the daily Gospel Reflections e-mails and all of the You Tube videos, especially the talks Bishop Barron does elsewhere and they show up either here. on the Word on Fire YouTube site or elsewhere. Thanks for the extra effort it takes to make these so available to us. Praise God.

  3. PATREON? Really? They would even fund anything: anti-ethics, anti-Christian, anti-Catholic everything! Yes, money are needed, but as Pope Francis said: The Devil comes in through the pockets! Reconsider!!

  4. Bishop Barron, if you read Stump's book on atonement, you'll have to read Bill Craig's book too! He provides a pretty solid critique of her view. I'm sure they are both excellent though, as usual.

  5. THE THEOLOGY OF THE CROSS: NO

    BLOOD, NO FORGIVENESS

By comparison, Christian theology teaches that sin is like a debt that must be

repaid; it cannot simply be forgiven by God: “For the wages of sin is death”

[Romans 6:23]. God is portrayed as a Being whose mercy is contingent on

the shedding of blood: “In fact, the law requires that nearly everything

be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no

forgiveness” [Hebrews 9:22]. The Church teaches that this is why Jesus

was sent to die on the cross; his sinless life represents the ultimate sacrifice

to appease God’s wrath and wash away the sins of the whole of humanity,

reconciling us with God. The theology that underpins the crucifixion is that

humanity is inherently sinful, a consequence of Adam eating from the forbid-

den tree. So, when Adam violated God’s command not to eat from the tree,

sin entered into humanity and has remained ever since: “Therefore, just as

sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in

this way death came to all people, because all sinned” [Romans 5:12].

The solution, according to the New Testament, is thus: Jesus died on the

cross in order to undo Adam’s “original sin”:

For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that

one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant

provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life

through the one man, Jesus Christ! [Romans 5:17]

So, we can see that the Christian concepts of atonement and divine mercy

are diametrically opposed to Islam. In Islam, we are responsible for our

own sins and God grants forgiveness to all those who call upon Him and sincerely repent. In Christianity, we have the paradoxical situation of the

whole of mankind being held accountable for something we didn’t do –

Adam’s original sin – and forgiven for something someone else did – Jesus’

sacrifice at the crucifixion. When you factor the Trinity into the atonement

equation, things get stranger still. If Jesus is God, then the crucifixion

effectively amounts to God incarnating Himself into the creation and commit-

ting suicide in order to forgive sinners from Himself. According to Christianity,

God can only forgive sin if He punishes Himself first, even though He is the

one whom the crime was committed against. Imagine someone wronged

you. If we follow this doctrine, the only way you can forgive that person is

if you punish yourself first. How much sense does that make? If Jesus died

on the cross for our sins, then we already have our golden ticket to heaven.

There’s no need for us to strive, or to repent, because Jesus has already done

    the hard work for us.

  6. I would respectfully recommend setting up an alternative way to support than through Patreon, which has becoming increasingly censorious. SubscribeStar might be a more palatable alternative.

Regardless, thank you for the continuing content, and I pray you continue to expand your reach and bring the Gospel to more people.

  7. The Internet began in the early seventies. At that time it was a military/academic thing.

A key turning point was the introduction of the browser. The Mozaic browser was introduced in 1993. This was where the Internet took off.

By the time Bishop Barron joined the Internet Geocities was giving away websites for free. So anyone with Internet access, perhaps a poor college student could have a web site.

  8. I heard you in another video saying the kingdom is here but is coming too. Wha??? I also heard you say Jesus IS the kingdom……thats like saying the pope is the Roman Empire. I use my brain.

  9. I am wondering whether Robert would consider doing a review on Richard Rohr's new book, The Universal Christ. I have found it to be extremely insightful, inspiring and instructive on the future of Christianity. Regardless, I would strongly recommend it to any interested in deepening their relationship in Christ.

  10. Hello bishop. (I apologize if that’s not the correct way to address a bishop) I’m wondering what your opinions are on men becoming less masculine, and how the world has tilted as far as it has because of a lack of good, Christian, masculine men who stand for the values we as a society used to hold dear? I feel as though men have been gradually worn down in order for the devil to abolish the concepts of traditional marriage and the right to life. I’d like to know your opinion, and have a blessed day. Thanks!

  11. The Catholic Church is the only church that people get life through the perpetual help, the mother of God ,B Barron ,I firmly believe that countless young will joint in Catholic Church .capture the media not only YouTube but all medias .catholic church will come first .

  12. While I find this channel interesting and I follow Bishop regularly, I find that it has reversed its focus to traditional money centered Catholicism. Don’t minimize poverty and the works of Saint Francis of Assisi in the movie “Brother Sun Sister Moon”. Not everyone is a university graduate and they can still enter heaven.
