The Bible Project | – Biblical Scholarship: Process Series

A lot of research goes into each of our videos, and in the latest video from our Process series, Tim shares one of the most fascinating aspects of the research─the history of biblical scholarship. For thousands of years, scholars and readers from all over the world have been trying to understand the Bible, and now we get to benefit from generations of illuminating thought and conversation as we too try to make sense of the biblical story. Learn more about this important step in our process from our latest Process video, Biblical Scholarship.

  1. how can you consider yourseves researchers if you think you live on a spinning NASA ball, that viruses are real, that nuclear weapons, exist? Now maybe you know the earth is flat and covid is fake, but i haven't heard you talk about it. Earth is flat. Rob Skiba and Zen Garcia are probably wrong about a lot, but at least they research.

  2. This is such an enlightening video lecture. I was so passionate in doing research and reading books from various authors but somewhere along the way, my passion to read and research has been lost. Now, I wanna go back to that road of learning again, and be able to do it one more time. Thank you, Bible Project.

  3. #1 – I'd love to be a part of such an amazing collaboration on biblical perspective through the ages, with the hope of articulating the most complete viewpoint possible for the listener.Truly Awesome Process! #2 – I'd like to say thanks for how enriching my "Bible Recap" reading was this year (In no small part) because of your videos. Please know what a tremendous blessing your ministry has been to me. May the Lord continue to bless each of you as you honor Him through your work here.

  4. Imagine:
God: Here is a book for you to read.
    Us: *Read
Tim: *Read, *buy 5 bookshelves-full of bible scholar book, and still buying (i bet).
God: Do you want me to give you one more book to understand that book better?
    Me: uh-oh *sweat
Tim: yes yes yes *buy 10 more bookshelves-full of book

  5. That was a nice subtle hint at 2:05 to Dr. Segal's Two Power in Heaven book. 😉
Very good explainer for the process too. You guys really need to get on the Make Bible Podcast again and do a series with Mike and Trey on the Dead Sea Scrolls and perhaps the sect at Qumran. What little Mike and David Burnett have said about it/them has been highly interesting.

Nice work as always brothers! God bless!

  6. Amazing work. Thank you! I love and enjoy all of your videos that I’ve watched so far. I’m in my first year of grad school so I know first hand how much research goes into condensing such enormous topics. I can imagine simplifying topics from the Bible is an immense pressure. God is surly leading your work. Love, love, love your work!

  7. Despite all the cool and wonderful advantages I got from being born in this age (Millenials, u call it?)
The ONE thing I hate is the lack of reading interest, which really makes reading a hell for me (even with the spark interest I have for the knowledge it possess after reading the cover)
