About The Author

The Chosen WHY A TV SERIES ABOUT JESUS? We've been making movies for some of the biggest studios in Hollywood for 20 years. But a subject this important shouldn't be entrusted to Hollywood. It needs to be made by us. Isaiah 43:19 says, "Behold, I am doing a new thing..." The Chosen is a new thing. * How it was financed is new: We're the #1 highest crowd-funded media project of all time -- over $10 million from over 19,000 people. * The content is new: We're the first-ever multi-season show about the life of Christ. * The way to watch it is new: We're the first show to have our own app that connects directly to your streaming devices. No subscription needed. Just search "The Chosen" where you get apps and download to your phone. * How it's reaching the world is new: The show is free, but by "paying it forward," you help ensure people around the world can see it -- we're currently in every country. Welcome to a new thing!

  1. Yo, I hope this comment gets found… I really love the old testament references in the beginning of most of the episodes. How do you know which episode deserves which kind of old testament references? What's the whole process. It's pure genius. The idea of the old testament references to open an episode.

  2. I for one do not want to see Dallas Jenkins shutup! If anything I want to hear from him more often. However given how busy he is with the show and everything else on his plate I am glad you two are getting involved. Ultimately this is not about Dallas or the actors or even the staff, it is all about Jesus. It seems that the worst criticisms come from Christians. Frankly if they want to produce a show of this calibre, let them but do not become a stumbling block to someone else with all their negativity.
It is so hard to pick a favorite actor or character but if I had to pick one it would have to be Eden, Simons wife. She gave very compelling performances and had me in tears. However every single actor has been giving such compelling performances I can only conclude it comes from God Himself. How else can mere human beings perform at such a high level.
Another comment I have is how impressed I am with Amanda Jenkins. I feel that she is very much in touch with Jesus and has been such a big support to Dallas. As fans we have been to beneficiaries of her insights. How can we overlook the Fishes and Loaves or the Red Sea Moments. It seems that in times of trial her first go to is God. I am so very impressed with both Dallas and Amanda.
I read somewhere that in the last days Jesus will pour his Spirit over the earth. I think that The Chosen is certainly a big part of that. This getting far too much for a simple comment on You Tube but I could talk about The Chosen for hours. May God bless you for getting involved and glory be to God for coming to the rescue so often in the production of this series.

  3. You don't talk too much Dallas, you just get Silly too much. When you gave your award acceptance speech you were serious and it was wonderful, like a well written song or a poem…perhaps you talked to little by not thanking your co-workers but other than that, I think you returned the favor by speaking truth.

And don't worry, these "strangers' are 15 seconds in and are already way more annoying than you could ever be. Was that the idea?

  4. I hope this comment is seen…it’s a good idea to do a series based on the Gospel story, but PEOPLE OPEN YOUR EYES AND GO READ YOUR BIBLE!!! When I watch the episodes I have to press pause every two minutes to check all the mistakes done in the show…I understand the show is fiction, but for the parts that are found in the Bible pls stop reinventing the story, it’s not following God’s Word anymore!!!

  5. I was skeptical about watching the chosen because like everyone else these "Jesus, aka Christian shows" have always left me hollow, and seeing God as a stern and very strict God and that included his son. Someone very unapproachable even though over the past few years I gave felt God's love, and his holy spirit. I know I've drifted away from him until finally I kept hearing about the chosen. It kept popping up on my youtube until I finally sat down on my bed one day and started watching season one. From the very moment it started it pulled me in, wanting to see and hear more. It's like those movies that keep you on the edge of your seat just waiting to see what happens next. As one of the biggest movie critics in my family, and pretty much with every single movie I've ever watched… I can find flaws in every one except the chosen. I CRY LIKE A BABY WITH EVERY SCENE!! It's the type of show that reaches deep into your soul and leaves you with a million different emotions at once. I have never been the type of person to cry, especially over any movie or show, but this one here… it touches your soul.. literally. It makes you feel as if you truly can see Jesus in a whole new light, and more than anything it makes me want/hope that one day I see Jesus and he does give me one of those hugs and say… I forgive you… Dallas thank you and to all the staff, actors, actresses for all you are doing. Words can never express just how much this show truly is so much more than "a blessing". It is soul stirring, soul searching, and the absolute best!! God bless you all..

  6. I just love this show. I have been telling others to watch this show. And that it will change their lives!! I have always wanted to know what Jesus was like as a child? Did he sometimes not want to do chores or just want to play longer, like all kids do??

  7. I would like to know if the producers (or another producer) has considered creating a children's video of a Grandma-type (ME!) reading the children's book. I have great rapport with children, have taught years in Children's ministries and am known for my reading style. I"d love to hear from someone! Children are NOT too young to know (and RECEIVE) Jesus!

  8. Are we going to see Jesus get "angry and not sin", like throwing the tables over in the temple, or Matt 23? It would be great to show Jesus having all types of emotions including "negative" emotions and how he handled them. Love the series!

  9. I love you Jonathan. I first saw some of your interviews and your testimonies about your faith on utube. That introduced me to The Chosen. Then of course I binge watched. The second time watching the episodes was even better because I realized every word mattered, everything was important. Really, it is so well done, unbelievable. Thank you Dallas, Amanda, and everyone involved.

  10. I want to get involved too!! I think the fans want to see behind the scenes, up close interviews with actors, maybe some scripture connections. I love the fact that Jonathan Rumie is doing some things for the Hallow App… are others something similar? I also want to hear more from the women!! Especially from Vanessa Benavente!!

  11. Have the writers ever consulted with biblical scholar Michael Heiser? He has amazing insight on New Testament stories through an Old Testament lens. I especially love his perspective on Mt16:18 when Jesus says “upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not [withstand it]”. Everyone assumes Jesus was referring to Peter as the rock (which he may have been as well) but according to Heiser, the rock they were standing on also had great significance since it was considered, at the time, to be the actual location of hell’s entryway. This implies that Jesus isn’t just claiming dominion over parts of the Earth but it’s entirety! And that hell wouldn’t be giving the beating, it would be on the receiving end! Hallelujah! Praise be to God! ❤️✝️

  12. When is Espisode 8 coming out. I love the devotionals! Also how the name The Chosen came to be? I hope I can meet the crew one day! Also I have counted 10 disciples not including the women. Is there two disciples pending, I know one is Judas that betrayed Jesus but don't know who is the other one? God bless!

  13. The Chosen is not biblically sound. It is increasing in fiction—its increasingly what MAY HAVE happened and even opposed to the true gospel. In fact, Mary Magdalene had a profound and lasting conversion and never backslid—just like me. Some people can do that. She was able because she had Jesus in the flesh and faith. I also managed to do that because I have faith and Jesus in the flesh:the Eucharist.
