VERSE 1
I don’t need the smoke or mirrors
‘Cause I know there’s a God who’s real
I don’t need the lights to fool me
‘Cause I have seen the God who heals

PRE CHORUS
I know when I ask I’ll receive it
‘Cause You’re not a God who withholds
I hear You say just believe me

CHORUS
I need a Holy Ghost, awaken in my soul
I need a love that glows, rattling my bones till the evidence shows
I need a Holy Ghost, awaken in my soul
I need a heart on fire that’ll never grow tired wherever I go
I need a Holy, Holy Ghost, I need a Ghost
Holy, Holy, Ghost, I need a Ghost

VERSE 2
I don’t need a counterfeit comfort
‘Cause nothing in this world remains
I need something stronger than lightning
Flowing inside of these veins

BRIDGE
You’re the fire I can’t even explain it
It’s like I’m bursting with a heavenly language
Every time I get a taste I know
I just want more, I just want more
You’re the kingdom that’s been growing inside me
It’s like a lion’s roar that wants to revive me
Every time I get a taste I know I just want more

  1. Good song, but the title and lyrics need correction. Scriptures always say "the Holy Spirit" or "the Holy Ghost" not "a Holy Ghost". It will be great to correct that and realign it with scripture. The Holy Ghost! Thank you.

  2. Umm I think they should rephrase the title of the song
Instead of "I need a GHOST" it should be " Holy Ghost"
Nahh like the "Reckless love" it should be "Relentless love"or anything that shows that God's love is not reckless.
    Just saying tho.

  3. I'm sure you mean well. . . . but we don't need "a holy ghost". . . . we need The Holy Ghost. Theology has been taught through hymns and songs for generations. . . this is not good theology. Theology should never suffer for the sake of a cool song. I love BBrandon's music and have been touched by it. . .

  4. This song is definitely growing on me, and the message is an important one (you can tell by a lot of the backlash). I think I may like the acoustic version more than the original, although they're both good. Thanks for writing it and sharing it, Brandon!

  5. The world is reaching the end. Only Jesus Christ can save us. Jesus said if you love me, keep my commandments. Jesus also said, "Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 5:19
Revelation 14:12 says the saints keep the commandments of God. We know that all this is referring to the ten commandments. Keeping them proves our faith because faith without works is dead. There are ten of them. But many Christians choose to forget about one, despite being told to "Remember" it. How did this happen to the church? The Sabbath is very important and it is a truth that needs to be uncovered. The Bible says that if we break one, we offend the whole law, and the Sabbath is one of the ten. Please visit this website to find out everything about the Sabbath. Please give this some thought and ask God to guide you. God Bless.

  6. I used to live my whole life in the darkness. I used to mock Jesus and all of His followers when I was still an atheist. I used to believe that I didn't need anyone in my life. I tore my Bible years ago because I hated the idea of God so much. I can't believe that this was me before – a person who never had the chance to know who God really is until I found Him. I am so happy I found Jesus now. I never turned back ever again when I found Him in that same place. His grace cured me and His love saved me from myself so truly I tell you, God can heal anyone.
