We’ve all heard the most popular theory that gets bandied about this time of year by the usual cadre of atheists, neo-pagans, and fundamentalist Christians, the one about how the word Easter is actually derived from Ēostre, the name of an ancient pagan goddess of spring and fertility, who was associated with bunnies and eggs. (To which, no doubt, most of her congregants would respond, “What do bunnies and eggs even have to do with a fertility goddess? We’re really losing track of the true meaning of Ēostre.”) None of that is actually true, though. Or, at least, there’s close to zero evidence for [support us] /> Now, we all know that Facebook memes are the ultimate source of information right? Particularly when they make biting points about something or some group that is not particularly favorably viewed.

You are saying the Venerable Bede is not a credible source. There are scholarly sources replete that confirm The Venerable Bede as a credible source. Passover is The Torah sanctioned High Holy Day. Easter is a man instituted to replace Passover. It is a tradition of man and exactly what Jesus called the Leaven of the Pharisees. It is a doctrine of man that nullifies a command of The Most High.

This saddens me. What a monumental fail. I hate the enemy, and I hate what he has accomplished with his western churchianity. "Christianized" pagan holy days, antinomian, hyper-grace, escapism.. One thing I try to keep in remembrance is I'll never really understand what God is, in this body. No matter what He decides for me to do, I don't know the plan I can only trust that I'm apart of it! So your explanation on easter being pagan is a play on words, and by insulting people that HAVE searched the truth by calling them names causing them to feel belittled, "IF" they are wrong? How is that being like Christ?
The irony is. You're condemning other Christians the same way you say are condemning you! Those scriptures apply to you as well as them, they're your brother/sister in Christ too,and they're not wrong for not celebrating it like you are for celebrating it, as per your argument in the Rom.chapter/verse you read, but yet you act like a child with your name calling and words you use, until you grow more in Christ&truth, you shouldn't be teaching anyone. We're supposed to encourage people to Christ's Truth, not beat them with it! Wise as a serpent, become like the people around you, as to win their hearts, we're not to debate the truth with anyone! THE TRUTH ABOUT EASTER:
The modern day Easter celebration applies to the Easter celebrations in Babylon over 4000 years ago, in Asia Minor over 2500 years ago and in pagan Rome in 100AD.
Easter is not a Christian name, it bears the Chaldean Babylonian origin, Astarte (Isthar), one of the titles of Beltis, the queen of heaven. (The two balloons p.103).

Then you have the length of 40 days observed in Egypt which was the commemoration of Adonis or Osiris.ect.

God has never given his church any authority to accept and assimilate Pagan religious practices as a means of worshipping him. Any person, organization, or church who does this, rejects the word of God and teaches doctrines that are contrary to the word of God. Therefore, anyone who teaches and preaches such practices is teaching a false Savior, and a counterfeit Christianity.

The issue is the “term” used. The correct biblical term is PASSOVER. There’s no Easter in the correct translation of the Bible. And Passover most certainly is real. The syncretism of religions is where the abomination lies. We see that in churches capitulating to bunnies and eggs in their “Easter” celebrations or Sunday schools. That’s where the danger lies. Stick to the biblical celebration and name! It’s PASSOVER.

Well, l have looked up the word Easter on internet Dictionary as well as an old English Dictionary , in book form, and here is what l Found:" Easter is the old Saxon word "Eostre" denoting a goddess of the Saxons. In the old English Dictionary , the definition of Easter was " The goddess of the spring" . So, What , I'm "self righteous" now because l did the research and found out what it really means? You're being as Judgmental as any self righteous person has ever been . Learn how to debate with out insulting people with Name calling like " Judaisers" just because they call Jesus by His Real Original Hebrew Name YAHUAH . It's not misinformation it's in the old testament. He points out how they sacrificed their children to strange Gods. He says they baked cakes to thes Gods. Ok there is alot more to it than this meme. There is alot of more proof that the eggs and bunnies are not related to God we shouldnt be associating it with Jesus deaths and resurrection. It is even stated that we shouldnt worship his resurrection only his death. It says for us not to do Sunrise services. They would even turn their back to the sun when sacrificing to God to make sure they werent associating it with the sun! There are tons of sources that will give you the history on things other than this meme. That will show you that these things have nothing to do of God. How about you? Have you read into it beyond getting wound up about this meme? You only want to hang onto your man made traditions. Have you looked into how the Roman catholic church have added in the pagan stuff? Also the passage you quoted about not worrying about food or drink and feasts is taking about the God ordained feasts like passover. He said do this in remembrance FOREVER!
