One of the most important doctrines in Christianity today has to do with a philosophical summary of God’s infinite nature called “the Trinity.” In fact, Augustine (an early Church Father) is quoted as saying, “If you deny the trinity you lose your soul.” He also says, “if you try to explain it you lose your mind.” Sounds like very shaky ground upon which the fate of our eternal soul rests! Does our salvation *really* depend on accepting the Trinity doctrine? How exactly does the Bible describe the nature of God, the nature of Messiah, the Holy Spirit, and the “Word”?
