“Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.” (Joshua 1:7 KJV)

There are so many things today in our culture that cause people to break their focus from what God says in His written Word.

These things get you to look to the right and to the left, but the moment you begin to look anywhere other than where the truth is, you become weak and able to be overpowered.

There is all kinds of breaking news, legislation in the government and the things being decided by the Supreme Court, and then you have everything on Google, Yahoo and Facebook. These sources have facts that grab your attention, but they’re not the truth. Many Christians go to church and look at the Word of God, but all through the week they’re looking to other sources that weaken their faith.

When you look straight, and not right or left, you’ll be anchored regardless of laws being passed, and regardless of what the Supreme Court says. It says in 1 Kings 19:18 when God spoke to the prophet, He said there were thousands of His people that had not bowed their knee to Baal. In Psalm 91:7 it says that a thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you. Joshua 24:15 says, “but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

These are just a few of many scripture verses that you are to keep in front of you so that when you see what the news says, you’re not shaken.

Most of what you read on the Internet or see on the news has no truth. The truth is that God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). The truth is that God wants you to prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers (3 John 2). The truth is that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17)!

Be careful not to look right or look left. Stay focused on what the written Word says, and you’ll remain anchored, you’ll remain true, you’ll remain strong, and you’ll be able to lead many to safety!
