Billy Burke | – Word of the Week: Proverbs 18:10

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous run into it, and they are safe.” (Proverbs 18:10)

It doesn’t say the church is a strong tower, it doesn’t say your Bible Study or your devotional time, it says, “The name of the Lord.”

It’s the enemy’s job, after you’ve done something wrong to keep you from responding quickly to the Lord. This verse is about learning how to respond quickly. All you have to do is say, “Jesus, forgive me.” When you respond quickly to the name of the Lord, “the righteous run..” It doesn’t say the righteous walk, or the righteous crawl, it says the righteous run.

God has set this up so we do not have to spend one second in condemnation! We do not have to spend on second in fear or in doubt. We all have our faith shaken or tested at times but we are not meant to carry it. Some people will mess up on Sunday, and not go to God until Friday and they spend five days carrying the weight of guilt or shame.

God knows those things will take place, but in this verse He tells us that His name is so powerful in the heavens, in the earth, and underneath the earth that when you say His name, and you say it quickly, relief will come! A response from heaven will come and a restraining order will be put on your enemy so he can’t come anywhere near your house!

Say His name quickly! Know that your God already paid the price for washed robes, for a clean heart, and for a right mind. Respond quickly for forgiveness, and respond quickly to Him in situations that leave you shaken with doubt and fear – and watch God show up immediately and give you relief. He will walk you through the worst of the worst and into the best of the best!
