They aren't saying what caused the spike in prices. 2 days after Biden took office, he signed an order placing ERCOT under direct control of the US Dept. of Energy. One of the regulations they placed on ERCOT is that they could not increase the amount of power they produced in a day, without permission from DoE. When ERCOT realized that the usage from customers was spiking, ERCOT requested to be allowed to increase energy production and was told no by DoE. Part of the new regulations that supposedly dealt with a new Green Energy plan, is that ERCOT could only increase production after they bought energy from other States like Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, and New Mexico at $1500 per Mega Watt Hour. If you don't believe it, look up page 3, sub-paragraph 2 of Dept. Of Energy Order No. 202-21-1. The Federal Government F#&ked over the people of Texas and are trying to blame ERCOT and fossil fuel plants. This is all revenge for pushback back by Texas against Biden, the Texit Movement, and trying to encourage people to demand a National Power Grid, controlled by the Government completely.
