Billy Burke | – Word of the Week: Psalm 139:23-24

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:23-24)

Sometimes we don’t cover it all. Sometimes things bypass us; we’re tried, we’re busy and sometimes we justify behavior or justify our thinking, and things end up in the deep recesses of our soul.

It can begin to sand bag and block blessings when we’re not even aware of it. We think it’s something “out there” or we don’t know where the block is, and we don’t think there is anything in between us in the Lord. You don’t ever want to be in any kind of denial. Denial is deadly. You always want to be open and transparent with God, and be one to realizing that maybe something got past your radar; something may have gotten in like a thought or feeling that you’re unknowingly harboring that wants to create all kinds of problems.

It can be like getting an X-Ray or a blood test. Have you ever gotten an X-Ray or a blood test and the doctor came back saying they found something, and you thought, “That can’t be…” Something was there and you didn’t even know it.

That’s what this verse means! David is saying, “I don’t want to risk my present or my future because there’s something there that I’m not aware of.” We’re human, we’re frail, and things can get by us.

Ask God today to search you. He has a light that can shine so bright deep in your soul. Let Him turn that light on! And if He finds anything that you’re not aware of, give Him permission to lead you into the way of everlasting.

He wants to lead you to where He leads all of us- to the cross at Calvary where the blood at Crimson Tide still flows, cleans, wipes away, and brings peace. Don’t mess around with that. Don’t take a chance of something inside blocking the blessing for your future days.

Just do what David did, “Lord, search me. If you find any wicked thing – A thought… A word… Anything. Cleanse me and lead me in the way of everlasting.”

I promise you that will keep the blessing flowing, keep you in a great fellowship with God, and just make everything around you being to evolve and accelerate in a greater way.
