The Bible Project | – The Book of Ecclesiastes

In this book we hear the skeptical voice of “the teacher.” He observes that living by the book of Proverbs doesn’t always bring positive results. Sometimes life is hard and defies neat explanations. How do you live with that tension, and still strive for wisdom? Ecclesiastes is the second of the three biblical wisdom books.

  1. Extremely good animation!! I wish I could steal your Art Department, LOL!!! This was the Creepiest animation you’ve made by far, what with Smoking Ecclesiastes Guy (aka “Middle-Aged Bruce Wayne”—-phenomenal smoking effect, BTW). I like how the animation styles vary from topic to topic. A LOT of love, work, and money obviously goes into this excellent craftsmanship and I really appreciate it!!

  2. That book is like a combination of stoicism (there are many things that you cant control and just focus at your attitude to present), taoism flow (just let things flow by nature, dont try to master or control life) and nihilism (everyone will die and our life is just like a blink). I like and learn a lot from those philosophies but I always believe and know that Bible is the truth and the best source of wisdom. Stoicism, nihilism and taoism flow is good but they lack the most important thing and that is to fear God and rely on Him. Sorry for any English grammar or word mistake.

  3. God bless you all. God loves you and so do I. I beg of you to please repent and turn away from your ways. Accept Jesus Christ as your LORD and Savior and watch your life transform for the better. Please take heed of this you’re not reading this by accident, please do this now, no day is promised.❤️

  4. The animations in this video are spectacular, I have always liked the overview videos where it is like being written on a scroll, but this was fantastic. The flow of it made the narrative super easy follow. The way the book is explained coupled with the video skills makes me think this would be a fantastic video to show non Christians to get a better understanding of the Bible and how deep it goes. Great work.

  5. The HOGWASH mentioned from 1:47 to 1:57 is NOT Biblical whatsoever! "Evolution" and Creationism are in NO WAY compatible. In fact, they're actually polar opposites. Why would the creators of this video feel the need to add such fictitious nonsense? As far as I'm concerned, THEIR CREDIBILITY JUST WENT DOWN THE TOILET. That's inexcusable to the point that they really oughta be ashamed of themselves. Just stick to Scripture alone, and leave the evolutionary BALONEY out of it!

  6. Proverbs 14:1 “Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.”

Galatians 4:26 “But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.”

Proverbs 4:7 “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”

Ecclesiastes 3:19 “For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.”

  7. Ecclesiastes is crucial reading, especially in these times when happiness is seen as a human right. It really forces you to look inward and think deeply about existence itself. On its own it can be extremely depressing, but that's just because it tells us harsh truths that the march of modernity, in its hubris, thought it could stamp out through material growth. However, when coupled with the rest of the bible it can be life-changing. Suffering IS part of life as is injustice, But we are not without hope. I would suggest reading the Book of Wisdom as well. Much of it can might as well be taken from your average Dawkins sermon. Which just goes to show how unchanged the human condition really is.
For example: ”The ungodly … reasoned unsoundly, saying to themselves,
we were born by mere chance,
and hereafter we shall be as though we had never been,
for the breath in our nostrils is smoke,
and reason is a spark kindled by the beating of our hearts
when it is extinguished, the body will turn to ashes,
and the spirit will dissolve like empty air." – Wisdom 2:2-3

  8. I'm an agnostic and cannot bring myself to believe in God, but I find this Bible passage deeply touching. It definitely resonates with me. Incredible how the human condition ultimately stays the same, and the words of a Judean scholar of the Hellenistic Age can move a 20 year old living in 21st century Germany.

    Spectacular animations as well!

  9. “To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life is a gift from GOD. GOD keeps such people so busy enjoying life that they take no time to brood over the past.” Favorite verse in Ecclesiastes! I pray this over my life everyday .

  10. I watched this series about a year ago with my small group and it clicked then but after listening to your amazing podcasts about the series they are even more beautiful and fantastic. Please keep doing the amazing work you are doing!!!

  11. Oh people this life is temporary
And Afterlife is permanent in paradise All fun with no sadness whatsoever
Oh people obey Allah the Only God who Created you read Quran and Follow the last Messenger Muhammed peace be upon him So you succeed and be happy in life and Enter Paradise Afterlife

  12. I am utilizing your bible study to teach my grand daughter … she's 10 … between the two of us learning is happening and we 2 children of God are beginning the long walk along The Way … thank you awesome learning that always takes us back to the Bible for 'research'

  13. The certainty of death and the uncertainty of life is only depressing if you value life over death. As God's children we have eternal life that continues past the physical one our spirit's vessel endures. This is the good news.
