Louie Giglio | – The Critical Question – David Platt

This week, Pastor of McLean Bible Church, David Platt, gives us three critical questions for us to use to evaluate how we are following Jesus.

1. Are you going to choose comfort or are you going to choose The Cross?
2. Are you going to settle for maintenance, or are you going to sacrifice for the mission?
3. Will your life be marked by an indecisive mind or an undivided heart?

With as many as two billion people around the world having never heard the name of Jesus, Pastor David Platt asks us to think about what it is each of us is called to do to proclaim the Good News in our lives.

  1. At about 24:00 i dont believe that because ppl haven't heard the name of Jesus its "our" fault. On the final day not one single soul that was chosen before the foundation of the world will be missing. Those whom he called HE also justified. That HE is GOD and God gathers his!

  2. Have mercy, have mercy LORD, awaken us to fearless, sacrificial service like you Jesus….Holy Spirit anoint us to give our all, which is our privilege, to take action to pray, to give at least…Have mercy, have mercy, have mercy…

  3. This a message all Christian have to hear, that becoming a Christiann is not about just believe in Jesus but forsake one's life and put your whole trust and love to the only One who Saves. Thanks for this message pastor!

  4. this church cannot possible be a Biblical one,Platt is a dictator preacher, its high time, these churches would shut down, they do nothing but give those on youtube praise and worship,no one can engage this preacher on this site or any other,so,why do folks watch these videos? I for one,as an Evangelist on the streets among the lost, not in a building as Platt does, but where it matters,as Christ did, preach to the lost, not the ones sat in a comfy church, its wrong, very wrong.

  5. Then Jesus *said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” Pray for our homeless outreach in NYC.

  6. How many other pastors do we hear give sermons bring up verses/passages like this? Praise God for David Platt and his boldness to share the truth from Jesus to a western christianity that definitely does prioritize comfort in their faith.

  7. Such a timely and relevant message. As true followers of Christ we must learn to look past ourselves and prioritize Kingdom work. Lord help me to impact others for You and to share the Good News of Christ with courage and compassion. Thank you Pastor Platt for a powerful message.

  8. "Just picture this:
You're in these mountain trails. There is majestic beauty all around you. It's like you're in the valley: There are mountains, snow-capped mountain peaks all around you. You just want to take a picture everywhere you turn. The beauty, the glory of God in creation.
And yet, at that moment it hits you, that in the last 2,000 years, these mountains have been shouting the glory of God. Declaring His greatness and His grandeur… but not for one second have these mountains said anything about what Jesus did on the cross. Mountains are silent about that because that is a privilege reserved for you and me."

  9. Luke 14:26 says, "If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple."
What is that about? Hate your family?
How about the other pages in the Scriptures where we are called to love our spouse, our parents, our children?
The point here (Jesus is making it very clear though) is when you follow Jesus, your love for Him makes your closest relationships in this world look like hate in comparison.

  10. I’m convicted and humbled. God forgive me for caring more about comfort than the cross. You’ve saved me for your kingdom, not for my advancement. Use me Father I pray, send me to the places YOU need me to be. Let nothing be as precious as your will, and your Gospel.

  11. God is not real, at least not the god you think is real. Prove me wrong. Ha Ha, you can't, so quite saying it is real. Put up or shut up. Sorry Christians, Jews and Muslims but shut the hell up, I'm sick of hearing about your made up gods.

  12. the proposed choice between comfort and the cross is a false dichotomy…..by this it could be argued that indoor plumbing is a sinful comfort. David Platt is certainly well meaning but he is very confused here. His social justice wokeness is a blinding heresy…..come back to the Gospel David!

  13. David Platt is a sit on the fence pastor. Encourages his followers to vote for Democrats who are ant life – ie all for abortion. You are a waffles and sit on the fence Platt. God does not like fence sitters.

  14. The real critical question is: "How long will God endure these irresponsible shepherds within the institutional church Mystery Babylon, who, like the shepherds of Israel, only strive to feed themselves?"

God will not endure these irresponsible shepherds forever. Those within the holy remnant can give thanks to God – a time will come when these shepherds will feed themselves no more. God will rescue His people! Hallelujah! He will deliver His flock from the mouths of the irresponsible shepherds, so that His people may no longer be food for them… “11 He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, And carry them in His bosom, And gently lead those who are with young.” O how the Lord is saddened when people subject themselves to the leadings of wayward institutional Pastors, but oh how much more so when the people are members of the holy remnant.

Ezekiel 34:1-10 New King James Version (NKJV)

    Irresponsible Shepherds

34 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2 “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD to the shepherds: “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who feed themselves! Should not the shepherds feed the flocks? 3 You eat the fat and clothe yourselves with the wool; you slaughter the fatlings, but you do not feed the flock. 4 The weak you have not strengthened, nor have you healed those who were sick, nor bound up the broken, nor brought back what was driven away, nor sought what was lost; but with force and [a]cruelty you have ruled them. 5 So they were scattered because there was no shepherd; and they became food for all the beasts of the field when they were scattered. 6 My sheep wandered through all the mountains, and on every high hill; yes, My flock was scattered over the whole face of the earth, and no one was seeking or searching for them.”

7 ‘Therefore, you shepherds, hear the word of the LORD: 8 “As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “surely because My flock became a prey, and My flock became food for every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, nor did My shepherds search for My flock, but the shepherds fed themselves and did not feed My flock”— 9 therefore, O shepherds, hear the word of the LORD! 10 Thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, I am against the shepherds, and I will require My flock at their hand; I will cause them to cease feeding the sheep, and the shepherds shall feed themselves no more; for I will deliver My flock from their mouths, that they may no longer be food for them.”

  15. Five years ago I heard a sermon just like this one, I was 15 years old and had never heard about Nepal before… Funny thing is I was born and raised in China. As an MK I was deeply moved and begged my parents to move to Nepal. Now fast forward 5 years and I'm newly married to an awesome Christian Nepali man and living in Kathmandu. God used David Platt to tech me about Nepal……
